Maybe it won’t quench your thirst quite like a sports drink, or remind you of home like a nice cold glass of lemonade, but milk will definitely fill you up and keep you going. In this photograph from 1969, a soldier unloads precious dairy cargo onto a roller ramp that deposited the cases of milk cartons in a cold storage. Of course this isn’t real California milk. The milk was produced in Da Nang and transported north via U.S. Navy ships.
The man pictured is PFC Jim Bark of the 3rd Marine Division, and this is at Dong Ha Combat Base.
